About the Speaker

Hon. Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, JCA, LL.M. (Sussex), DSSRS, is an eminent Nigerian jurist, judicial reformer and a Justice of the Court of Appeal (JCA). Widely recognized for her specialized expertise in child justice administration and legal protection for vulnerable demographics, she currently serves as the Chairperson of the National Stakeholders’ Committee on the Review of the Child Rights Act, 2003.

In April 2026, the Federal Government—through the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice—inaugurated Justice Nyesom-Wike to chair the national overhaul of Nigeria’s 23-year-old child protection framework. Her mandate focuses on modernizing the Child Rights Act (CRA) 2003 to address emerging socio-legal risks. Under her leadership, the core reforms center on integrating stringent statutory punishments for rape and child sexual abuse, guaranteeing digital safety and combating online exploitation. She successfully steered the foundational three-day National Stakeholder Engagement on the bill's third draft in September 2026.
